Scottish Country Dance Vitae

January 1981; started attending Scottish Country dance in Thousand Oaks, CA.
1981; started Irish dancing six months later and began competing in 1982.
1984; joined the MacLeod Dancers Scottish Country dance demonstration team. Danced with them until 1987.
1985; taught first SCD class for about six months, in Ojai, CA.
1986; to Scotland with the MacLeod Dancers to perform at the MacLeod Clan Parliament on Skye.
1987; joined the Waverley Scottish Country Dancers, taught by Jimmy Lomath.  Danced with them until 1991.
August 1988; attended the first weekend SCD workshop, at Lake Arrowhead.  The teachers were Bruce Hamilton, Simon Scott, and Marianne Taylor.  The musicians were Alasdair Fraser and Paul Machlis.
Fall 1991; moved to Yuba City, north of Sacramento.  Attended SCD class in Sacramento. Took Ladies Step dance from Jo Hamilton.  Had to quit Irish dance competition because there was no class nearby.
December 1991; participated in Ladies Step dance performance at the Christmas Revels in San Francisco.
Sept 1993; married a British national and moved to Basingstoke, England.  Danced with the Basingstoke SCD club.
July 1998; RSCDS Summer School, St. Andrews, Scotland.  Passed the Preliminary exam for SCD teaching certificate.
February 2000; returned to U.S. to live in Indianapolis, IN.   Took over the Indianapolis SCD class when their previous teacher moved away.
July 2002 - July 2003; lived in South Korea, teaching English.
August 2003; returned to the U.S. and moved to Boise, ID.
October 2003; joined the Thistle & Ghillies Scottish Country dancers in Boise.
March 2004; became one of three teachers for the Thistle and Ghillies Scottish Country dancers.
June 2005; attended the first SCD Masters Conference in Sonoma, CA.  The dance teachers were John Middleton, Ruth Jappy, Geoffrey Selling and Bill Zobel.  Keith Smith and Muriel Johnstone taught the musicians classes.
October 2006; Asilomar SCD Weekend, Asilomar, CA.
July 2007; TAC Summer School at Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island, Canada.
July 2009; TAC Summer School at Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island, Canada.
July 2010; attended as a teacher candidate, TAC Summer School at Wilfred Laurier University, near Toronto, Canada.  Passed Unit 5 and became a fully certified SCD teacher.
October 2011; Guest teacher for the High Desert Scottish Dancers weekend workshop in Bend, OR.
November 2011; attended Asilomar SCD Weekend, SF-RSCDS, Asilomar, CA.
June 2012; Guest SCD teacher at Suttle Lake Camp, OR, for the Heather and Rose dancers.
July 2012; attended TAC Summer School in Portland, OR.
September 2012: Called contra and ceilidh dances for a wedding in Garden Valley, ID.
March 2014; attended RSCDS Portland Workshop and Ball, Lake Oswego, OR.
October 2014; Guest Teacher at High Desert Scottish Dancers workshop and ball, Bend, OR.
November 2014; will attend Asilomar SCD Weekend, SF-RSCDS, Asilomar, CA.
